5 Bookstores To Visit In Colorado

When you live in Colorado there are so many amazing things to do all the time. Like a day at the waterpark or going out for a great meal. One of our favorite things to do on a lovely fall day is head to one of our favorite bookstores. There are plenty of great options that you don’t want to miss out on.

1) The Bookies Bookstore

A Best of Denver 2023 winner, Bookies is open seven days a week for your reading pleasure. Stop in for a fun day of exploring what they have to offer, from Children’s books to all things about Colorado. Before you visit, be sure to check out their website to see what events are coming up and if you’d like to join in.

2) Tattered Cover Book Store and Café

Tattered Cover Book Store and Café was established in 1971 and has grown into a local favorite with several stores available throughout the state. This independent bookstore is meant to be a community gathering place that you definitely want to be a part of. Stop in to browse the books are join in on one of the many events they have going on throughout the month.

3) West Side Books

This independent bookstore is located in the historic Highlands neighborhood of Northwest Denver. Established in 1997, West Side Books provides new, used, and even unusual books to the community. And if you’re looking for a really good audiobook, then this is the place to stop in. Be sure to check out the recommendation lists and staff picks on their website.

4) Poor Richard’s Bookstore

A favorite stop in Colorado Springs, Poor Richard’s Bookstore has been around since 1975. With the best selection in town, it’s easy to see why. Stop in for a wide variety of new and used books. And if you aren’t sure what you’re looking for, ask one of the book experts for their recommendations. While you’re there, grab a cup of coffee and spend some time perusing.

5) Westside Stories Bookstore

Opened in 1992, Westside Stories Bookstore has grown to be a beloved Westside Colorado Springs staple. This indie bookstore is a must-visit shop with a huge selection of items. Pick from their nonfiction or the new books. Or if you live outside of Colorado Springs, check out their website to get some great books.
