One of our favorite things to do is to check out the amazing state parks in the area. But when you’re in a rush to choose, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. So today, we’ve gathered a few of our favorites to help you choose your next stop for this weekend adventure.

1) Eldorado Canyon State Park
When you’re looking for a hidden gem of a park, you’ll find it with Eldorado Canyon State Park. Located right in Boulder’s backyard, this is a perfect weekend trip. Get in some hiking surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs or climb Eldorado’s sheer golden walls. Here you’ll find there’s a bit of something for everyone making this a truly amazing experience.
2) Castlewood Canyon State Park
Castlewood Canyon State Park is 2,628 acres of park in the unique Black Forest region of Colorado. When you visit the park, you’ll find so many great things to do. From picnicking to nature study. All with the spectacular panoramic views of the Front Range and Pikes Peak.

3) Staunton State Park
Offering a diverse landscape, Staunton State Park has 3,988 acres of land. Spanning from grassy meadows to granite cliffs. Spend the day bird watching or get some fishing in. And if you’re feeling like one day just isn’t enough stay at one of the 25 campsites to expand your adventure.
4) Rifle Falls State Park
When you visit Rifle Falls State Park, you’ll find lush vegetation and waterfalls like you’ve never seen before. Bring a camera to capture some of the stunning beauty. Or spend the day checking out some of the mysterious limestone caves beneath the falls.
5) Mueller State Park
With over 5,117 acres of land, Mueller State Park has so much to offer. From spring-fed meadows to impressive Pikes Peak granite formations. Spend the day exploring the landscape of dense conifer and aspen forests to the grasslands. Whether you’re only looking for a day trip or a whole weekend adventure, you’ll find plenty of amazing things to do here.
